Grandview, Las Vegas, Nevada

April 20th to 27th, 2018

We were able to get a one bedroom Grandview on Extra Vacations through RCI for $242.00 for the week (Platinum discount). We try to book during special deals to get the best price but are okay with something for the week under $250.00. It is so nice to have a kitchen, living room, dinning area, bedroom and bathroom. And most of all, 2 TV’s so Grumpy doesn’t have to watch “Say Yes to the Dress.”

The drive was approximately 500 miles and took about 9 hours. We drove straight to Henderson to visit the kids (Aaron and Arla) and then on to the Grandview to our room. During the week we mostly hung out and visited. The only thing near the Grandview we did was go across the street to the South Point Casino and saw a movie on their cheap movie day ($3.00 per person). While we were with the kids we went to a nearby lovely shopping area (Green Valley Resort area), and down to the strip to see the Aquarium at the Mandalay Bay.

Edie, Aaron, Arla and Grumpy

We all really like the Henderson area.
The place has always had a safe clean feel.
On our way to a place that has hundreds of specialty beers.

Always fun when we are with Aaron and Arla as they are high energy. (Aaron was able to get us discount tickets to the aquarium.)

From the parking garage to the Mandalay. If you are a veteran you can bring a copy of your DD214 to any MGM resort and get a M Life Rewards Card. Your veteran status gets you a level upgrade that includes free parking at MGM properties. A nice perk as places on the strip charge for parking now.

Feels a lot like Xcaret outside Cancun
Poor guy, like all living things, hanging out, looking for food or sex. Must be bored out of it’s mind, just waiting for food and no hope of sex.
Impressive Komoto dragon, the largest and heaviest lizard in the world. Has a venomous bite.
They also have a mouth so foul with bacteria that a lethal infection soon sets in on any animal they bite.
No hands allowed here!

After the aquarium, Aaron took us to the Aria and we walked around for awhile. So much beauty everywhere to see.

We fell in love with this waterfall wall that encircled the lobby transit area. Sheets of water would cascade down the wall somehow making a pleasant waterfall noise X 10.
A fantastic engineering job. Every drops journey produced the sound of rushing water and it all clung to the wall falling from pebble to pebble.
Looking through the photo’s I see this enormously fat guy that kinda looks like me, wearing very similar clothes. I think he was following us, he shows up in too many or our pictures.
Edie caught a side profile of the fellow. I miss the work of Alfred Hitchcock!

We saw a 1960’s themed wedding party walk by where most of the participants were wearing bell bottoms and hippie type clothing. Lots of laughter and looked like a great time was being had by all. I wanted to tag along but didn’t have the proper clothing.

We ate at several different vegan restaurants (trying new ones). Really enjoyed the Modern Vegan near UNLV but it’s pretty pricey.

The week flew by and the drive home was uneventful, just long. Hoping you had a good week.
