Billings, MT to Idaho Falls, ID – 5/10/2017

May 10, 2017 (Wednesday)

Michael slept well but because Michael slept so well, I didn’t. His snoring was really bad and I was too lazy to get up and get my earplugs. Oh well. Tonight I will remember to have them on hand. He can turn into quite the loud train at times. Other than that the bed was comfortable, and the room nice.

We got up and went down to the wonderful breakfast. They had just about anything you could want with at least one attendant working to make sure things were stocked and tables were cleaned. The hotel had plenty of employees that weren’t afraid to work. We saw employees cleaning windows, working in the dining room area, and behind the desk. Nice place the Boothill Inn and Suites.

Boothill lobby.

The drive today was from Billings, Montana to Idaho Falls, Idaho – about 350 long miles, mostly highway.

There are some serious mountains around here.
A rest stop full of historical displays.
Looks like a lot of oil gets refined here.
Such an interesting formation.
I think glacial action created the cliff.
Beautiful snow covered mountains in several directions.

Country vehicles on country roads.

Landscape changing again.
Wide open spaces.
We have no idea what was used to fill in the v of the hillside. We guess maybe mine tailings.
Cattle country.
Some fellow fishing.
Another state line.

Clarece (GPS) did take us down one two lane road for a few miles but it was a shortcut that we were already contemplating. The weather was good so we just went with what Clarece had decided. We stopped a couple of times – once at a lovely rest stop in Montana, and once at a gas station in Dillon, Montana. What a cute little down Dillon was. Statues scattered about. When we went inside the gas station to go to the bathroom, we were surprised that it had fishing and hunting gear and other things. More like a Menard’s or a Lowe’s than a gas station. Interesting.

We had gotten some drinks and peanuts at the gas station so we weren’t really hungry when we got into Idaho Falls, Idaho. Michael ended up going to Wendy’s for baked potatoes, a garden salad and a chocolate frosty.

Our home for the night.
Okay room.
My work station.

Standard bath.

That was our day. We’re tired (again) but only have 4 more Capitols and this adventure ends. Hope your day was great!
