Victoria, B.C. Canada – 7/30/2016

July 30, 2016 (Saturday)

Today was pretty much a lazy day. We all slept in, had some of Renee’s yummy zucchini bread for breakfast, along with our coffee. (We didn’t bring any real food with us as we knew we wouldn’t have the room and planned on grocery shopping once we got on the island.) We finally got around to taking showers and leaving our “home” at around noon.

It was a lovely day, in the high 60’s, so we walked down the street and through the park, then across the street to “Finest at Sea.” We discovered this fish market/restaurant four years ago. We had gone to “Red Fish, Blue Fish,” which was rated as one of the top fish places and then gone to “Finest at Sea.” We much prefer “Finest at Sea.” Larry and Renee agreed that it was pretty darn good. Larry didn’t have the halibut and opted for the salmon. He thoroughly enjoyed his meal and ate it all.

Across the street from “Finest at Sea” was a big white tent and we discovered they were performing Shakespeare in the park. We thought we might want to go one night (only around $20 per person). They are showing three different Shakespeare plays and looked like it might be fun.

A little later we headed to a shoe store to look for a particular pair of water shoes that also double as a walking shoe. Michael has such big feet, it’s hard to find shoes that fit him right. Anyway, the store didn’t have them. Bummer.

On the shoe hunt saw some nice flowers.

We decided to look on line and just get them that way. After that we headed to the local Safeway we’ve gone to in the past. It is now a Save On Foods store. We also hit up the BC Liquor store, which is next door.

Nice store.

After doing our grocery shopping, we took a little scenic drive (I think Michael got lost but refused to admit it). Lovely. We just love experiencing the island and all it has to offer. We saw the remnants of a wedding near a park, and lots of old cars going by.

Such cars, it is like being in Carmel.

We got back to our home around 5 PM or so and just rested and/or took naps. Very relaxing and nice.

Larry and Renee made dinner tonight. Wish I could afford to have maids and cooks full time. What a treat. Larry (on the BBQ) made his stuffed mushrooms that we love, and pork chops that were so delicious. Renee made asparagus and an awesome salad. So good.

That was our day. Hope yours was great!
