Point Arena, California – 1/10/2016 to 1/16/2016

January 10-16, 2016

The resort at Point Arena was so cute. Point Arena is on the Mendocino coast and is only about 225 miles from Prunedale, but because of the narrow and curvy roads, it takes many hours to get there. A beautiful drive if you take your time and just enjoy.  Our “home” was a tiny house and it was just perfect. It had everything, including a fireplace, and was quite modern and very clean. I loved it and Michael decided he could live in a 400 square foot home (as long as he could have his man shed for all his boy toys).

The outside of the tiny house is stylish and has lots of windows.

A nice kitchen. I liked the gas stove top. I really need to learn how to operate a micro/convection oven combination.

While in Point Arena we explored the lighthouse area, walked to the top of the lighthouse, explored the town of Point Arena (library and bakery), and went for drives. Lovely and relaxing. The weather didn’t want to cooperate and there were some serious storms that came through while we were there. We now know why the trees are so bent and have unusual shapes.

We decided to leave a day early (because of the long trip and the weather) and spent the night in Redding, California. We Pricelined a hotel on our way to Klamath Falls, Oregon. The drive to Redding was about 250 miles and boy were we were ready to get out of the car. The drive was lovely but it was a long day for us.

The hotel we stayed in was The Thunderbird Lodge. We have stayed there before (must be one of the favorites for Priceline) and weren’t totally excited about it. It’s clean but the room we had before was in desperate need of updating. This time we got an upstairs unit near the office and it was great. Very spacious, clean and modern.  We hope you are doing well.
