Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to Columbia Falls, Montana – 10/25/2014
OCTOBER 25, 2014 (Saturday)
Got up and left the hotel around 8:40 AM. We drove into Coeur d’Alene and found the restaurant, Nosworthy’s. Dave said it was famous for serving huge schooners of beer for breakfast. I saw one of the tankers of beer when I sat down and was shocked that anyone could drink that much beer. It was more than a whole pitcher of beer (or at least looked like it to me).
Dave, Danielle and the kids arrived and we were seated. Very fun and lively place. Dave and Danielle said it was very Idaho, a locals hangout. We had a lovely time talking and sharing while we ate our breakfasts. The kids were so cute. Gonna miss them. Scout looks so much like my brother did, and what Dave did when they were little. Hated to leave but we needed to hit the road so Michael could get his knee looked at. We did stop for gas in Coeur d’Alene ($2.96 gallon).
We left around 10:15 AM and were on the road. The drive today is to Columbia Falls, Montana, about 225 miles (4 hours). We decided to take the southern way that goes around Flathead Lake. Such a beautiful drive. We even saw some big horn sheep along the road. We turned around to get some pictures but by the time we got back, they were gone. We’re hoping we see some on our drives in the Glacier Park area.
We stopped in Kalispell at the MedNorth Urgent Care. Barely made it in the door before they closed (time zone change). Nice clinic. They were able to see Michael right away. Michael really liked the doctor. Doctor said he needs to go see an orthopedic doctor. We’ll call and make the appointment on Monday, first thing. After the visit we left and drove to Columbia Falls, about ten miles away.
This is such a beautiful area. The town of Kalispell is very lovely, mix of old and new. We even got teased with views of Glacier National Park a few times on the drive. We got into Columbia Falls and stopped at the local supermarket to get a few things for dinner. The drive from the supermarket to the resort was only about a mile. The resort is very lovely, on a golf course. The check in was quick and easy but there was a little mix up and we were told we had reserved two units. We told them no, only one unit, and they said we’d have to call RCI and get it straightened out. Michael tried to call RCI when we got to our “home,” but their system was down so we’ll have to call again.
We got to our “home,” and it’s very nice. Fireplace, washer/dryer, two bathrooms,
